Short Term Rentals

Short-term rentals (STRs) which are rentals of less than 30 days, are not prohibited in Freshwater Estates.  The FEPOA has established an STR committee of both STR and non-STR homeowners to oversee STR rentals within the FE community and to ensure all residents right to a peaceful and private enjoyment of their home and property.  The STR admin committee has created and provides to all STR homeowners "best practices" guidelines to assist them in operating a successful STR property in compliance with state and local regulations and in a manner that is positive for both our residents and STR guests. 

 

One very important consideration for anyone operating a STR property in FE is the occupancy limitations of their home's Virginia Department of Health (VDH) septic permit.  In addition, most all waterfront properties in FE re connected to the community's mass drain field (MDF) which has additional septic system limitations.   In that the MDF is a community owned, managed and maintained system, the FEPOA carefully monitors occupancy and effluent volumes coming from those homes connected to the MDF.
